  6. This archive contains a team of programs to help you maintain your fortune
  7. cookie database:
  8.  
  9.     "CookieTool" itself eliminates duplicate entries,
  10.         sorts alphabetically or by size if you wish.
  11.     "CdbSplit" extracts parts to a separate file, by keyword, by size,
  12.         by number, or as groups of 'similar' cookies.
  13.     "CdbDiff" compares two cookie databases and builds a list of those
  14.         cookies only present in B, but not in A.
  15.  
  16. They are intended for users of "Cookie", "IntuiCookie" (both available
  17. on Aminet, util/misc/), or generally for any plain text cookie
  18. database with entries separated by "%%" lines.  They are nice for
  19. crunching your cookie collection by a few KByte of duplicate stuff, but
  20. also for splitting it into seperate files, for example extracting
  21. quotations or dumping those cookies too big to be fun to read.

  23. Note that "CookieTool" and its companions know how to handle the database
  24. itself, but not how to update the corresponding index file (also called
  25. 'hash file').  That means you still need "cookhash" (which should be
  26. included with your cookie display program).

  29.     Added the CdbDiff tool.
  30.  
  31. New in V2.4:
  32.     Can now handle various cookie file formats (separated by %%, by %,
  33.     or simply one cookie per line).
  34.     Fixed some minor (?) bugs, concerning (among others) the "delete
  35.     abbreviations" feature and the command line parser in CdbSplit.
  36.     Caution: The -a option in CookieTool has been renamed to -b !!!
  37.     (-a now means "append", for both CookieTool and CdbSplit.)

  39. New in V2.3:
  40.     Minor changes and enhancements for easier building under Linux
  41.     (which is what Miroslaw Baran actually did), clarified licensing
  42.     conditions (is now GPL).

  44. New in V2.2:
  45.     Options for sorting by size, searching for combinations of keywords,
  46.     and for extracting without modifying the original database.

  48. New in V2.1:
  49.     Fixed a severe bug that would overwrite an input file even when
  50.     the new file was incomplete due to "Disk Full".

  52. New in V2.0:
  53.     Much easier to use (and a little safer, I think), but quite different,
  54.     too.  Make sure you read the docs when upgrading from V1.x!
  55.     More sort options, can delete 'abbreviations', can extract groups of
  56.     'similar' cookies, sorting and deleting now always in *one* pass.
  57.     When choosing among 'almost identical' cookies, those towards the
  58.     top of the input file will survive.  (This was left to chance in
  59.     earlier versions.)

  62. License version 2 or later, C-source is included.
